Sony, Apple and Beats Electronics are set to unveil new products at CES, but one of the biggest names in the sports headphone world may be far away.
In an exclusive interview with Mashable, Beats CEO Jimmy Iovine has said the company will unveil its new sports headphone, the Beats X2, at CES.
It’s also unclear what Beats X3 will look like.
“The first thing that we do at CES is we’re going to announce a new sports headset, and we’re really excited about it,” Iovinesve said.
“We have a very clear plan to release a new, better sports headset at CES and I’m really excited to share it with you.
We’re really committed to this new device and I think we’re finally ready to share the news.”
The announcement will take place on Wednesday, January 19, and it will be streamed live on Beats X. Ioviners keynote will also be streamed via YouTube.
In response to a question about whether the Beats device will be priced at $199 or $299, Ioviner said: “It’s a really interesting question.
It might be cheaper.
I don’t know.
That’s a great question, but it’s also a question for our product team.”
While Beats X is not officially confirmed, IOVines and Beats’ senior vice president of product management Chris Anderson said in an interview with TechCrunch that the company was “very excited” about the announcement.
“There’s no doubt that the X2 is a big deal,” Anderson said.
“It has some big-name, big-sounding features.
We can’t wait to talk about it.”
Iovines and his team have been talking about the new Beats product since February, and this week he said the device will have a bigger battery and a wider range of features than its predecessors.
Iovine said the X3 is set to be more than a sports headset.
“It’s going to be a true sports headphone,” he said.
